Social upheavals in Ethiopia have resulted in the beheading of two local pastors by rioters.
After a Muslim leader in Sebeta, an area around 20 miles southwest of the capital, lost his personal security protection granted to him by the state, the town's population lashed out. A riot formed and eventually moved its way to the home of Pastors Isaia and Assefa Tesfaye.
Isaia was a pastor at the Full Gospel Curch and Assefa was a pastor at Mekane Yesus Lutheran Church. Both men were beheaded after being seized from their residences.
The death of the pastors were part of 67 total fatalities and 213 wounded in the protests, including beatings and stonings. Rioters also destroyed town infrastructure and private residences.
The government called in the Ethiopian military to restore peace.
