Facebook removes Trump campaign ads, citing violation of census policy

Facebook announced on Thursday that it had pulled several Trump campaign ads from its website, citing a policy that forbids posts interfering with the upcoming United States census.

The social media giant said a series of Trump ads broke that policy by advertising as the "Official 2020 Congressional District Census." Those advertisements actually directed users to a fundraising website for Trump's 2020 reelection effort.

This was the first Trump campaign ad removed under that policy, Facebook said. The advertisement was financed by the Trump Make America Great Again Committee, a fundraising effort between Trump's central reelection campaign and the Republican National Committee.
