Facebook revealed in a letter to U.S. senators that it can still track the location of users who have opted out of the tracking feature by various other methods.

Facebook said that it can figure out a user's location by looking at tagged photos, location check-ins, and IP addresses. People may also share their address in the shopping section of Facebook or include it in their profile information.

The social media company claims that benefits of being tracked range from showing ads to nearby shops to protecting accounts from suspicious logins.
