Facebook on Thursday shut down the event page of a planned New Jersey lockdown protest, claiming that the demonstration qualified as "coordinating harm and promoting crime."
The rally, called "Open New Jersey," was scheduled to take place on April 28 in Trenton. Residents were urged to show up and protest the state's lockdown order, which the governor this week said could last until "June or July."
Prior to shutting the event down, Facebook had previously warned visitors to the page that they should "avoid large gatherings," directing users to federal guidelines from the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention.
