President of Liberty University Jerry Falwell, Jr. said he may call for "civil disobedience" in Virginia if several changes to gun laws pass in the state.

"I'm pretty sure I'm going to call for civil disobedience if the Democrats go through with this," Falwell said in an interview on Todd Starnes' radio show on Monday.

Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam said he plans to introduce eight bills that he says will "save lives and improve public safety in our communities." The bills include required background checks, banning things like 30-round magazines and bump stocks, and reinstating a law that allows someone to only purchase one handgun within a 30-day period.

Falwell said he thought Democrats "don't know what they've gotten into and they're going to find out the hard way, I'm afraid."
