Liberty University's Board of Trustees announced Friday that they requested Liberty University President Jerry Falwell Jr. take an "indefinite leave of absence" from his roles at the university, which include serving as president and chancellor, effective immediately. Falwell Jr. agreed.

Full statement from Liberty:

The Executive Committee of Liberty University's Board of Trustees, acting on behalf of the full Board, met today and requested that Jerry Falwell, Jr. take an indefinite leave of absence from his roles as President and Chancellor of Liberty University, to which he has agreed, effective immediately.

The university, which is one of the largest evangelical Christian universities in the world and one of the largest private non-profit universities in the United States, will not be offering further comments at this time, according to sources.

? The move comes just days after Falwell Jr. posted, then deleted a photo of himself with his pants unzipped and his arm around a scantily clad woman who is not his wife.
