Another multi-agency human trafficking rescue effort has been successful, this time recovering 33 missing children in Southern California. The FBI said that at least 8 of those children had been sexually exploited.
Since November of last year, the FBI has been working over 1,800 various investigations into lost and missing children who are suspected of being trafficked. This particular effort, dubbed "Operation Lost Angels" started on January 11th.
Kristi K. Johnson, the assistant FBI director involved with the operation, said that despite their positive results, the work is unending.
"While this operation surged resources over a limited period of time with great success, the FBI and our partners investigate child sex trafficking every day of the year and around the clock," she said.
Besides rescuing the children, Operation Lost Angels resulted in the arrest of one suspected human trafficker.
