FBI: NASCAR driver Bubba Wallace not target of hate crime, "noose" actually garage door pull rope

NASCAR announced Tuesday evening that the "noose" found in black driver Bubba Wallace's garage Sunday was actually not a noose, but instead a garage door pull rope that has been there since last fall, before Wallace was assigned to that garage:

? Wallace is the only black driver in NASCAR. After it was reported that a "noose" was found in his garage stall amid heightened racial tensions in America, widespread outrage ensued. The entire field of fellow NASCAR drivers pushed his car to the front of the pack in a display of solidarity with him.
