Officials in Broward County, Florida, recently uncovered an attempt to fraudulently register dead people as Democratic voters over the Summer.
An unknown person in Columbia, South Carolina, forged and mailed 54 new voter applications to the Broward County elections office in July under the names of dead people. Each application was blank in the driver's license and social security number sections.
At least three applications initially evaded detection and were added to the voter rolls in July.
Broward elections spokesman Steven Vancore said no votes were cast under the dead people's names.
"This is an organized effort by someone who knew a little bit about Florida law but not a lot, and had a scheme to either undermine the Florida registration system with fake voters, or intended to vote 50 times," Broward Elections Supervisor Pete Antonacci said.
