The Center for Biological Diversity is offering a reward after a manatee was discovered in Florida's Homosassa River with the word "Trump" written on its back.
A reward of $5,000 will be offered to anyone with information that helps authorities find and prosecute the person responsible.
"Manatees aren't billboards, and people shouldn't be messing with these sensitive and imperiled animals for any reason," said Jaclyn Lopez with the Center for Biological Diversity. "However this political graffiti was put on this manatee, it's a crime to interfere with these creatures, which are protected under multiple federal laws."
Manatees are protected by the Endangered Species Act, and harassing one of these animals is a federal crime. The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation hotline can be reached at 888-404-3922 for anyone with any information about the incident.
