A video has surfaced showing a 14-year-old boy being ambushed on a school bus by three females and two males, allegedly because he had previously worn a Trump hat to school.
The boy's mother tweeted the video of the beating that took place on November 21 in Hamilton County, Florida.
The young boy, identified as Tyler, suffered numerous head contusions and had to be taken to the hospital.
Tyler's mother said she believes her son's attackers were provoked by a Trump 2020 campaign hat that he had purchased with his own money.
"To be clear, my son bought his Trump 2020 hat with his own money at the flea market a few weeks ago," she said. "He was proud to wear it. He wore it to school, but due to immediate bullying he put it away [and] didn't wear it to school again, sadly the damage was already done [and he] was now a target."
She also believes racism was involved, as the victim is white and all of the assailants are black.
The mother has contacted the police and hired an attorney to pursue possible legal action. The students responsible for beating Tyler have been suspended.
