Ford Motor Corp. is using parts from its F-150 line of trucks to produce respirators to aid health care workers in the fight against coronavirus, the company announced Tuesday.
The automobile corporation is partnering with 3M to produce the devices, which are meant to shield medical staff from coronavirus infection. The respirators will incorporate a fan system normally used in ventilated F-150 seats.
The company has also begun producing simple face shields that help shield healthcare employees from bodily fluids. It expects to be able to manufacture those at a rate of 100,000 per week by next week.
