Former Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick announced a presidential run on Thursday, less than three months before primary voting begins.

In an announcement video released Thursday, Patrick highlights his childhood on the South Side of Chicago and how he is the first in his family to go to college and law school.

Patrick said he is running for the “people who feel left out and left back.”

Patrick made history as Massachusetts’ first black governor and has close ties to former President Barack Obama.

🔦 Former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg is also considering a last-minute run for the Democratic nomination.
