A former child star who has fallen into dire straits may have received a blessing in disguise when he broke into the garage of a homeowner who turned out to be the drug counselor at the jail to which he was sent.

Shaun Weiss, known for his roles in the iconic 1990s film series "The Mighty Ducks" and the comedy movie "Heavyweights," used a hammer to break into the home of Marysville, California, resident Lou Benninger. The homeowner said he found Weiss talking to himself inside the garage. The former child actor was apparently under the influence of methamphetamine.

Benninger called the police, who took Weiss to the local jail. As fate would have it, Benninger is a drug counselor at that jail.

"I call it a 'God incident.' It was a divine fit," Benninger told local media. "There's help. So if he's ready, we can help him."
