Former President Jimmy Carter turns 96 on Thursday.
Carter was the nation's 39th president, leading the United States from 1977 to 1981. He has lived longer than any other man who served as president of the United States.
Although he has largely receded from public view during the pandemic due to health issues, he still participates in politics and advocacy in public health and human rights through the Carter Center.
He lives with his wife, Rosalynn Carter, in Plains, Georgia. The two have been married 74 years.
