Former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo has fueled speculation that he intends to run for president in 2024 after he dumped significant money into a new political action committee called Champion American Values.

The title of the PAC, created in February, echoes the same phrase that the former secretary has been using frequently in speeches and public remarks. In March, Pompeo spoke to a group of influential Republicans in Iowa, the first state to host a presidential caucus.

Though Champion American Values is not officially affiliated with Pompeo, he sent more than $150,000 to the organization almost immediately after its formation. Some have seen a correlation between the acronym of the PAC – "CAV" – and Pompeo's previous work as an Army cavalry officer.

🔦 If Pompeo declares his candidacy, he will join what is expected to be a very large and diverse group of Republicans hoping to unseat incumbent President Joe Biden.
