President Trump's former White House physician Ronny Jackson said Tuesday that Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden is mentally unfit to hold the presidency. The doctor, who is now a Republican congressional candidate, suggested that Biden is experiencing noticeable cognitive decline.

Jackson made clear to clarify in his remarks that he was speaking as a "concerned citizen," and not as a Republican candidate or a medical professional who had examined Biden personally.

"I am not making a medical assessment," Jackson said. "I actually don't even practice medicine at this point. I am not doing that. I am not trying to remotely diagnose him with anything. I have not accused him of having Alzheimer's or anything of that nature. I have not made that statement."

Instead, he pointed to a number of recent instances on the campaign trail where Biden has had trouble remembering names and places. Jackson argued that he is "convinced [Biden] does not have the mental capacity, the cognitive ability" to become the chief executive or head of the country's military.

Jackson's remarks come as part of a coordinated attack from the Trump campaign on Biden's mental faculties. At a campaign rally Monday night, Trump himself hammered the same point, noting that Biden would not be able to compete with the mental acuity of other world leaders, specifically China, Russia, and North Korea.

"They're 100 percent sharp. We have somebody running that's not 100 percent, he's not 80 percent, he's not 60 percent," the president said to cheers.
