A fundraiser for the family of a retired police captain who was killed by rioters in St. Louis has now topped $155,000.

As of Wednesday morning, the total sat at a little more than $155,100, surpassing the fundraiser's original goal of $15,000. Nearly 4,000 people have donated.

The fundraiser is supporting the family of David Dorn, a 77-year-old retired police captain who was killed by looters Tuesday morning outside a local pawn shop. Riots have broken out in St. Louis, sparked by the death of George Floyd.

St. Louis Police Chief John Hayden said Dorn was killed by looters while "exercising law enforcement training."

Dorn is survived by his wife, Ann, who is a sergeant with the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department.
