Hours after a ceasefire agreement was made between Israel and Gaza’s militant Islamic Jihad group, five rockets were launched at Israel from the Gaza Strip. Two of the rockets were intercepted by Israel’s Iron Dome defense system.

The ceasefire was intended to end an escalation of conflict between Israel and Gaza militants, a conflict that started after the Israel Defense Force lead a successful assassination against Islamic Jihad leader Baha Abu al-Ata.

According to IDF officials, Abu at-Ata had been responsible for attacks on Israel over the past year and had plans to carry out more.
