According to new finance filings, left-wing billionaire and philanthropist George Soros has tripled the amount of his highest election spending on record, pouring almost $70 million into the current election cycle.

The donations have come from the super PAC Soros founded to defeat Republican candidates, named "Democracy PAC." The billionaire's previous high came in 2016 when he donated $22 million to left-wing causes.

So far in 2020, Soros has made a series of large contributions from Democracy PAC:

  • $3 million to Strategic Victory Fund
  • $1.5 million to the Senate Majority PAC associated with Senate Minorityy Leader Chuck Schumer
  • $1.5 million to SuperMajority, a progressive women's group
  • $1 million to Working Families Organization

🔦 Soros's increased investment comes as little surprise given his staunch opposition to the leadership of President Trump, whom the liberal financier has called both a "con man" and "authoritarian."
