Progressive billionaire philanthropist George Soros backed presidential candidate Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) on Friday, saying in an interview with the New York Times that while he would not endorse any candidate in the 2020 election, Warren “is the most qualified to be president.”
This is not Soros’s first tacit approval of Warren’s White House run. He signed a letter in June showing support for Warren’s “wealth tax” proposal. He has long been a proponent of higher taxes and socialist-leaning policies, and Warren has expressed a desire to raise upwards of half a dozen taxes if she wins the office.
Soros, known for his donations to liberal causes, said President Donald Trump was an “aberration” who has done “a tremendous amount of damage” from the White House.
