Georgia authorities on Thursday arrested Gregory McMichael and his son, Travis McMichael, and charged them with murder in the February shooting death of Ahmaud Arbery after a video surfaced online showing the event.

? Arbery, 25, was jogging through a Georgia neighborhood on February 23 when two men, who claimed that he looked like a suspect from security camera footage who had committed recent burglaries in the area, armed themselves and gave chase in a vehicle. The two men, Gregory McMichael, 64, and his son, Travis McMichael, 34, attempted to block Arbery with their vehicle, at which point a struggle ensued over the younger McMichael's shotgun, and he fired, killing Arbery.

Arbery was black and the McMichaels are white.

Outrage erupted after a video of the shooting surfaced Tuesday [warning: graphic]:
