A state recount has confirmed Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden as the winner of Georgia.
The Trump campaign had petitioned for the recount due to Biden's narrow 15,000-vote lead during the initial ballot count. During the statewide audit, more than 2,000 additional ballots for Trump were found, but Biden still clinched the state with 12,284 votes.
This is the first time a Democratic presidential candidate has won Georgia since the 1992 election between George H.W. Bush and Bill Clinton.
Georgia still has two runoff races scheduled for Republican Sens. David Perdue and Kelly Loeffler. Should they both lose, the Senate would be tied 50-50 between Republicans and Democrats, giving vice-presidential candidate Kamala Harris the deciding vote in Senate legislation if she and Biden take office.
