Free agent pitcher Gerrit Cole and the New York Yankees agreed Tuesday night to a nine-year, $324 million contract, bringing the former Astros ace to the Bronx Bombers in what is the richest contract for a pitcher in MLB history.
The move comes just one day after Stephen Strasburg finalized what was then the most lucrative contract for a pitcher, heading to the Washington Nationals for seven years and $245 million.
According to ESPN, the deal includes an opt-out after five years and it has a full no-trade clause.
