The Wuhan coronavirus has now infected over 67,000 people globally. The death toll has exceeded 1,520 people, including the first death reported in Europe.

An 80-year-old Chinese tourist who tested positive for the novel coronavirus died Saturday morning at the Bichat Hospital in Paris.

The patient arrived in France on Jan. 16 and was placed in quarantine on Jan. 25. According to French Health Minister Agnès Buzyn, the patient's "condition had deteriorated rapidly and he had been in a critical condition under intensive care for several days" after being hospitalized.

The patient's daughter also tested positive for coronavirus but is being treated at the same hospital in Paris and should be released shortly.

Of the 11 cases of coronavirus confirmed in France so far, four patients have been cured, one has died, and six remain hospitalized, according to the Health Ministry.
