House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) said on Friday he will offer a resolution this week to remove Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA) from the House Intelligence Committee.

"Pelosi just reappointed Eric Swalwell to the Intelligence Committee," McCarthy said. "Based on the briefing she and I received together, Swalwell should not be on the panel in charge of guarding our nation's secrets."

Swalwell did not reply to McCarthy's plans to remove him. On Friday, Swalwell said there is "no dumber man in America than this loser," referring to McCarthy.

🔦 In December, a year-long investigation into Chinese espionage in the U.S. revealed a Chinese spy named Fang Fang, also known as Christine Fang, forged connections to multiple state and national politicians, including Swalwell.

McCarthy called for Swalwell's removal from the Intelligence Committee at that time as well. Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) responded to McCarthy, saying she does not have "any concern about Mr. Swalwell," and that she has "full confidence in Congressman Swalwell's service in the Congress and on the Intelligence Committee."
