During a joint press conference with Mayor Bill de Blasio on Friday, Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced that New York City will begin phase one of reopening on June 8.
"We are on track to open June 8. It's going to be different. It is reopening to a new normal. It's a safer normal," Cuomo said. "People will be wearing masks. It's just a new way of interacting, which is what we have to do. It is that simple but that hard."
Approximately 400,000 workers in New York City's construction, wholesale, manufacturing, and curbside retail industries will be allowed to return to work.
