The CEO of the California Medical Association and a lobbyist for the organization were among the guests who partied with Gov. Gavin Newsom at a large gathering held after the state went under tightened coronavirus restrictions.
CEO Dustin Corcoran and lobbyist Janus Norman joined Newsom at the gathering at one of the nation's most renowned restaurants, The French Laundry. Photos of the party seem to show people in attendance were not wearing masks. Newsom said at one point that the event was outdoors, but images show the party taking place on a patio behind closed glass doors.
Newsom has apologized for attending the event, but a spokesperson for the California Medical Association, Anthony York, told Politico that the event "was held in accordance with state and county guidelines.
