Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is working with bestselling author Louise Penny to create a novel titled "State of Terror."
Simon & Schuster and St. Martin's Press will publish the volume jointly in October. The book's plot centers around a woman who serves as secretary of state in the administration of "her rival" and has to contend with numerous terrorist attacks, according to a press release about the project.
The release also describes the president that the secretary works under as one "inaugurated after four years of American leadership that shrank from the world stage."
Penny, who reportedly is a longtime friend of Clinton's, described work on the book as an "incredible experience" that allowed her "inside the State Department, inside the White House, [and] inside the mind of the secretary of state as high stake crises explode."
🔦 The book will be Clinton's first since her 2017 memoir "What Happened," which dealt with her loss to Donald Trump in the 2016 presidential election. Simon & Schuster also published that book.
