Hospitals threatening to fire doctors who complain about lack of coronavirus gear

Hospitals are reportedly firing or threatening to fire doctors who speak out about the lack of protective gear they have been given during the coronavirus outbreak, a sign of the increasing desperation some American health facilities are facing as the disease spreads.

One doctor in Washington was allegedly fired after giving an interview about how his hospital did not provide him with enough protective gear, and another nurse was reportedly dismissed for sending an email to colleagues in which she said she wanted to wear a better mask. Doctors in New York have allegedly been warned against speaking out about their gear.

🔦 Hospital staff are generally urged to go through public relations representatives rather than talk to any journalists, although some have argued that the severity of the coronavirus pandemic requires doctors to be able to speak directly to the press.
