A house church preacher and his wife have been summoned by a court in China's southern Fujian province for homeschooling their children rather than sending them to public school, a watchdog reported.

Preacher You Guanda of Dianqian Church in Xiamen city and his wife have been summoned to Shaowu Court on September 23 and have been charged with "custody disputes" by the local government, according to persecution watchdog International Christian Concern.

Dianqian Church has been facing harassment and persecution from the local government, including the demolition of a new property used by church members for residence, homeschooling, and worship. The government has also been monitoring the church's activities, church leadership said.

? China's Ministry of Education has urged authorities to prohibit nontraditional education, including threatening parents who send their children to such facilities.
