Hundreds of officials who served under Republican President George W. Bush are set to endorse Democratic nominee Joe Biden in the 2020 presidential election.
The group of officials, which include members of Bush's cabinet and other senior officials, formed a political action committee named "43 Alumni for Joe Biden" — a reference to Bush being the 43rd president of the United States.
The PAC launched a Facebook page and website on Wednesday and plans to release testimonial videos featuring high-profile Republicans praising Biden. The group also intends to hold "get-out-to-vote" efforts in battleground states.
Kristopher Purcell, a former communications official in the Bush administration, said the group is "choosing country over party" in November.
"We believe that a Biden administration will adhere to the rule of law… and restore dignity and integrity to the White House," Purcell said.
Bush's office has been informed of the group, but is not involved in the campaign.
