Comparing Israel to both the coronavirus and a "cancerous tumor," Iran's supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, unleashed a Twitter rant on Friday calling for the Jewish state to be "uprooted and destroyed."
"Today the #Covid_19 is a reality; should it be accepted or fought?!," he tweeted. "The long-lasting virus of Zionism will be uprooted thanks to the determination and faith of the youth. #Covid1948."
Khamenei's use of the hashtag "Covid1948" is a reference to the year Israel was established following the end of World War II.
The supreme leader's Twitter diatribe was not limited to just Israel, but also included a condemnation of Western governments like the United States who thwart the Islamic nation's efforts to destroy Israel.
Khamenei's tweets coincided with Quds Day, an Iranian holiday expressing support for Palestinians and condemning Israel's right to exist.
