Three dozen individuals were hacked to death by Islamic extremists with machetes in the Democratic Republic of Congo on Friday, including an Anglican pastor, according to international reports.
The attacks took place in four villages west of the Beni territory, located in the northeast part of the country. The brutal slayings were carried out by the Islamist terrorist group that calls itself the Allied Democratic Forces.
The group began in Uganda but eventually migrated to the Beni region, located just over the border from Uganda. Congolese troops launched an offensive campaign against the Islamic group in October.
More than 250 people have been killed in the DRC by ADF since November.
