Parents of a baby suffering from rare birth defects say they discovered messages urging them to “let the baby die,” and declaring, “its called Darwinism.”

The parents had posted signs advertising an upcoming fundraiser for their four-month-old son, who was diagnosed at birth with brain defects and chromosomal disorders. After posting them, the father discovered additional signs near the fundraiser notices reading: “Stop asking for money. Let the baby die. Its called Darwinism.”

The father called the sign-poster “disturbed” and told local news that the family “hopes he gets help.”

The infant suffers from Mosaic Trisomy 9 Syndrome and Corpos Callosum. The former disorder has only a 50 percent survival rate past two years old.

The parents have already raised more than $37,000 through GoFundMe and other avenues to pay for their son’s treatment, some of which insurance has declined to pay.
