The daughter of a deacon gunned down in a recent church shooting in Texas has publicly forgiven her father's killer, just days after holding her father in her arms as he lay dying from gunshot wounds.

Anton Wallace, a 64-year-old registered nurse and deacon at West Freeway Church in White Settlement, Texas, had just helped distribute communion to the congregation when a gunman opened fire on congregants. The assailant shot and killed two parishioners, including Wallace, before he himself was quickly shot and killed by an armed congregant.

Wallace's daughter, Tiffany, said she embraced her father as he lay on the floor; he later died in a hospital. Tiffany Wallace later released a statement publicly forgiving her father's killer:

"I forgive him, and it's the hardest thing to say because it's like, somebody killed your dad, but I forgive him. I'll never forgive what he did, but I forgive him."

Wallace said her father was "always prepared" for heaven. A niece, meanwhile, described him as "an amazing husband and father."
