Following the news that Sen. Kamala Harris (D-CA) is former Vice President Joe Biden's running mate for his 2020 campaign, the leaders of two pro-life organizations have called the political duo "the most pro-abortion ticket in American history."
Judie Brown, president of the American Life League, and Marjorie Dannenfelser, president of the Susan B. Anthony List, both decried Harris' record of staunchly pro-abortion policies and actions. Among the most notable examples is Harris' action against undercover journalists who exposed abortion providers' conversations about the practice of selling the body parts of aborted and dismembered babies.
"Harris is well known for being the first attorney general in California history to bring charges against an undercover journalist for documenting criminal activity," Brown said. "She demonstrated her complete surrender to Planned Parenthood — a self-admitted racist and white supremacist organization — by being at its beck and call."
Biden's selection of Harris "shows his total submission to Planned Parenthood — the operator of the largest abortion chain in the United States," she said .
Biden, who identifies as a Catholic, used to support some limits on abortion, including the Hyde Amendment, which prohibits use of taxpayer dollars to fund abortion. However, Biden recently reversed his position in response to progressive backlash, and says he no longer supports the Hyde Amendment. In October, a Catholic priest denied communion to Biden because of his stance on abortion.
Both Biden and Harris support taxpayer funding of abortion and abortion until birth. Dannenfelser said Harris also supports infanticide and noted that the duo's radical platform is "an agenda rejected by the overwhelming majority of Americans, including millions of Independents and rank-and-file Democrats."
In the White House, the pair would "immediately begin rolling back President Trump's pro-life gains, as well as longstanding policies like the Hyde Amendment," Dannenfelser said.
"They will stack the Supreme Court with pro-abortion ideologues, setting the pro-life cause back for generations," she said.
The president of March for Life, Jeanne Mancini, said Biden's pick of vice president solidifies him as "the abortion candidate, leaving behind any semblance of being a moderate."
