In a licensing deal reportedly worth more than $100 million dollars, comedian and commentator Joe Rogan is taking his top-rated podcast exclusively to the Spotify platform.
The 190 million listeners who download Rogan's program each month will not have to pay to access the show, but they will have to become Spotify users once it becomes exclusive sometime after September 1st.
Rogan made the announcement to his audience on Tuesday.
Spotify's acquisition of "The Joe Rogan Experience" as an exclusive property is a major blow to YouTube, where Rogan had carved out an audience of millions. It is also represents an emerging threat to Apple, the leading podcast platform.
