U.S. Special Climate Envoy John Kerry has denied allegations that he informed the Iranian foreign minister of Israeli operations in Syria while he was serving as former President Barack Obama's secretary of state.

Kerry posted on Twitter, saying the claims, which were detailed in leaked audio, were "unequivocally false."

In the audio, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif is heard alleging that Kerry told him Israel had struck around 200 Iranian targets in Syria.

Zarif admitted he was shocked by Kerry's admission.

Many Republicans say Kerry's actions are a betrayal to Israel, and some are calling for Kerry's resignation from his post in the Biden administration.

According to previous reports, Kerry has been accused of colluding with Iran to undermine President Donald Trump during his presidency. Kerry admitted to meeting with Zarif on at least two occasions during the Trump administration.

Former President Trump says Kerry should be "prosecuted."
