Pastor and author John MacArthur announced this week that a group of scholars from his Master's University is working on a new translation of the Bible called the Legacy Standard Bible, which will be an updated version of the New American Standard Bible that MacArthur has favored for decades.

Announcement video (relevant portion begins at 7:25 mark):

Two specific changes MacArthur mentions in his announcement that will be featured in the LSB:

  • "Yahweh" will replace "LORD" in the Old Testament
  • The Greek term "doulos" (δοῦλος) will be rendered "slave" in the New Testament instead of "servant" or "bondservant"
