Juul smoked by FDA for illegally promoting its e-cigs as safer than cigarettes

The Food and Drug Administration is coming down hard on e-cigarette manufacturer Juul for marketing their tobacco products as “less harmful” than cigarettes.

Acting FDA Commissioner Ned Sharpless said that Juul ignored laws that required companies to provide evidence that their products are less harmful than cigarettes and then receive approval by the FDA before marketing their products as such. Sharpless went on to say that his greater concern is that this message has been distributed to the nation’s youth.
