Pastor Lawan Andimi, who was kidnapped by Boko Haram in a raid on his church, was beheaded by the Islamist militants on Monday. Andimi was a senior member of the Christian Association of Nigeria.
Veteran journalist and Islamic terror expert Ahmad Salkida tweeted about Andimi's death.
Andimi earlier released a video telling his family not to "sorrow for him, since God's will must be respected."
"By the grace of God, I will be together with my wife and children and colleagues," he said. "Don't cry, don't worry, but thank God for everything."
Nigerian media reported that the Boko Haram had demanded a ransom of more than $2 million before his execution.
