Less than half of all Americans said they want to see President Trump removed from office following his impeachment by the House of Representatives, according to a Reuters/Ipsos poll released Thursday. The poll was conducted hours after the House passed the two articles of impeachment against Trump.

According to the poll, 53 percent agreed that Trump abused his office, while 51 percent agreed that he obstructed Congress. Some 42 percent said Trump should be removed from office, but just 17 percent said Trump should be formally reprimanded and 29 percent said they want impeachment charges dismissed. The remainder said they did not have an opinion.

The poll also asked respondents if impeachment changed their view of the president, with 26 percent saying they were more supportive of Trump, 20 percent saying they were less supportive, and 38 percent saying their view had not changed.
