Acting Director of National Intelligence Richard Grenell on Wednesday released a list of top Obama administration officials who reportedly sought to "unmask" the identity of Michael Flynn during the presidential transition period.
The list features upper-echelon Obama administration figures, including then-Vice President Joe Biden, then-FBI Director James Comey, and intelligence chiefs John Brennan and James Clapper. It also includes then-President Obama's Chief of Staff Denis McDonough.
"I declassified the enclosed document, which I am providing to you for your situational awareness," Grenell wrote to GOP senators to whom he sent the list.
The document shows that Biden's office made its request to see Flynn's identity on January 12, 2017 — the same day that the Washington Post broke news of Flynn's leaked calls with then-Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak.
🔦 Just yesterday, Tuesday, Biden said he knew nothing about the Obama administration's investigation into Flynn, then backtracked when ABC's George Stephanopoulos pointed out he was reported to be in an Oval Office meeting on January 5, 2017, in which Flynn was discussed. Biden then said he was aware that there was an investigation but had nothing to do with it.
He called discussions revolving around Flynn a "diversion" from the coronavirus pandemic.
