Nearly 60 percent of Christian parents select a church based on the children's programs that the congregation offers, according to a new poll by the Barna Group.

More than 500 "highly engaged" Christian parents were asked if the children's program was the "primary reason for church choice." Of those surveyed, 22 percent of respondents "strongly agreed" with the statement, while 36 percent "somewhat agreed" with it.

The report concludes that churches looking to attract significant numbers of Christian families should make children's programs "a key part of holistic family ministry."
