A majority of the House of Representatives have voted to impeach President Trump — making him the first president in history to be impeached twice.

Trump was charged with "incitement of insurrection" after a riotous mob stormed and breached the Capitol building on January 6.

The House voted 232-197 to impeach Trump, with 10 Republicans joining Democrat's ranks in the ouster.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has said that he will not call for an emergency session, meaning the Senate will next meet on January 19, just one day before Biden's inauguration. The Senate decides if an impeached president is removed from office.

🔦 Trump was first impeached by the House in 2019 over dealing in Ukraine, but was acquitted by the Senate in 2020.
