Isaiah Jones, a 20-year-old Chicago man, is being charged with first-degree murder after he allegedly killed his "step-great-grandmother," Jearlean Willingham, 76.
After a Bible study in her home, officials believe Jones took a "samurai knife" and stabbed Willingham at least 35 times. He had been staying at her home for some time.
Jones ran from the scene with Willingham's phone, along with several envelopes from a local bank that were filled with cash. Though prosecutors say his face was not visible in the home security camera footage, his easily identifiable red shoes and red bag were clearly seen.
When police arrested the man just a few hours after the incident, he had the bank envelopes in his possession. Authorities say that Jones admitted he had killed Willingham.
