Local police have arrested the main suspect behind the bomb attack on Zion Church in Batticaloa, Sri Lanka, on Easter Sunday 2019.

The man allegedly organized the suicide bombing by providing the transport for the bomber who blew himself up just before the Easter service began on April 21, 2019, killing 30 and wounding around 300 others.

The attack on Zion Church was part of a series of bombings targeting two other churches and three luxury hotels. More than 350 people were killed in the attack claimed by the Islamic State.

Detectives are actively investigating further evidence to determine if the man they arrested was also responsible for the other bombings.
