House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) said on Saturday he "would bet [his] personal house" that Republicans will reclaim the majority of the U.S. House of Representatives in the 2022 midterm elections.

McCarthy made the comments during a panel discussion at the Conservative Political Action Conference in Florida.

"Do you want to retire Nancy Pelosi? Do you want to end the socialism in this country? Win the House, five seats," McCarthy said. "This is the smallest majority the Democrats have had in 100 years. We could do it."

The Democrat Party currently holds 221 House seats over the Republican Party's 211. There are three vacant seats due to the deaths of Reps. Ron Wright (R-TX) and Luke Letlow (R-LA), and the resignation of Rep. Cedric Richmond (D-LA) to serve in the Biden administration.
