Meghan Markle is interested in running for president in 2024, according to an unnamed source.
"Meghan's convinced she's got what it takes to run the country effectively while being a force for change," the source told New Idea. "Now, with the world climate as it is today, she sees it as a total reality and something to work towards."
Markle has not publicly commented on running for president, but has allegedly always been interested in running.
The source also said Markle is figuring out the best strategy to take before officially announcing her presidential bid.
Prince Harry is reportedly in support of his wife and has "been pulling strings via his own contacts" to put the plan in motion, the source said.
"Harry is right behind Meghan and thinks she'll make a wonderful politician," the source said.
Royals expert and author Phil Dampier says running for president might have been Markle's ultimate goal.
"It's significant that she never went through with getting her British citizenship, and maybe at the back of her mind she wanted to make sure that she remained an American citizen, which would enable her to one day become president," Dampier said.
